The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed Global offensive lineman Tomoya Machino for a second CFL season.
The six-foot-five, 298-pound tackle was selected in the second round, 15th overall of the 2021 Canadian Football League Global Draft and spending the entire 2021 season on the practice roster.
He played baseball in high school before taking up football during his time at Kyoto University and stood out at the Global Combine in Japan. He played for Japan at the World University Championships in Harbin, China in 2018 and has since suited up with the Fujitsu Frontiers of the X-League.
The Bombers also added American offensive lineman Pat Allen ahead of training camp.
The six-foot-four, 290-pound blocker joins Winnipeg after playing two seasons with Southeastern Louisiana University. Allen appeared in 24 games for the Lions, anchoring the offensive line during his time there.
