Redblacks sign Southeastern Louisiana University running back Devonte Williams, one other

The Ottawa Redblacks have signed American running back Devonte Williams.

The 25-year-old Williams comes to Ottawa following an NCAA career split between Indiana University and Southeastern Louisiana University.

In 2019, he started 12 games in his senior year for the Lions rushing 136 times for 599 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 68 passes for 571 yards and three majors. The five-foot-nine, 170-pound athlete had nine punt returns for 126 yards, taking one back 61 yards for a touchdown and added 10 kick-off returns for 164 yards.

The Redblacks also signed American offensive lineman Jeremy Hickey. The 26-year-old joins Ottawa from The Spring League’s Aviators after having played in the league since 2019. Hickey played NCAA football at Eastern Michigan University, where he started 12 of 13 games at left guard in his senior season. Overall, the six-foot-five, 300-pound o-lineman played in 35 games and started 24.
