The Ottawa Redblacks have signed Canadian offensive linemen Matthew Derks, American offensive lineman Obinna Nwankwo, and American receiver Brandon Arconado.
Derks, a native of Brantford, Ontario, was selected by the Redblacks in the sixth round of the 2021 CFL Draft. The 24-year-old returned for his fifth year at Delaware State this past fall, appearing in nine games.
Nwanko attended the University of Mercer following a stint at Florida International University. The six-foot-four, 310-pound blocker registered a sack against the Alabama Crimson Tide this past season while playing along the defensive line.
Arconado was a three-year letter-winner with the Washington State Cougars, appearing in 30 games and starting 11. The six-foot, 193-pound native of Chino Hills, Calif. recorded 82 catches for 1,182 yards and eight touchdowns over his career.
Next on the docket for the Redblacks is the 2022 CFL Draft, on May 3. Ottawa holds the second overall pick in this year’s draft and has nine total selections, which is tied for the most of any team.
