Edmonton Elks’ receiver Shai Ross was at it again on Monday, performing another jaw-dropping athletic stunt during the CFL off-season.
The 28-year-old was filmed performing a “barbell backflip,” a feat that is exactly as its name suggests: doing a backflip while holding a barbell. The video was posted to Twitter by Troy Durrell after it originally appeared on the CFL’s Instagram page.

This isn’t the first time Ross has gone viral as he was recorded dunking an Oreo into a glass of milk in June 2021 by USA Today, a video that garnered over 400,000 views on Twitter.
The University of Manitoba product started 12 games for the Elks in 2021 — six at slotback and six at wide receiver — and made 27 receptions for 369 yards and four touchdowns. His best game of the season came in Week 9 when he made three catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-24 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks.
Ross was originally selected in the fifth round of the 2019 CFL Draft following stints with the CJFL’s Okanagan Sun and the University of Manitoba Bisons.
