The Edmonton Elks have signed defensive lineman Jordan Reaves.
The Winnipeg native last played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the 2018 season when Chris Jones was the team’s head coach and general manager.
A basketball player during his collegiate career at Brandon University (2010-14), Reaves played the 2016 and 2018 seasons with the Riders, making 14 special teams tackles in 22 games. He originally signed with his hometown Blue Bombers as a receiver in 2015 but was released following training camp.
The six-foot-five, 230-pound defender spent the 2021 season on Saskatchewan’s injured list due to an Achilles injury he suffered early in training camp. It marked the second consecutive season that injuries kept him off the gridiron after suffering a torn ACL on the second day of training camp in 2019.
Reaves is the son of Canadian Football Hall of Fame running back Willard Reaves, who is currently running for political office in Winnipeg.
