The Toronto Argonauts have agreed to terms with American defensive lineman Ja’Gared Davis.

The 31-year-old played 13 games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2021, tallying 39 defensive tackles and six sacks. His production improved dramatically in the postseason when he recorded seven tackles, five sacks, and a forced fumble in three games.

The Texas native was an East Division all-star in 2019 after finishing second in the CFL with 13 sacks and adding 54 defensive tackles in his first year in Hamilton.

The six-foot-one, 238-pound pass-rusher came to the CFL in 2016 with the Calgary Stampeders where he worked closely with new Argos’ defensive coordinator Corey Mace. He averaged nearly eight sacks a season for his three years with the Stamps and helped the team capture the 106th Grey Cup in 2018.

The former Southern Methodist Mustang spent time with Houston, New England, Kansas City and Washington of the NFL from 2013-2015.
