The Montreal Alouettes have extended the contracts of American running back William Stanback, Canadian linebacker Chris Ackie, American receiver Jake Wieneke, Canadian defensive back Kerfalla Exumé, and American offensive lineman Chris Schleuger.
Stanback received his second CFL all-star selection in 2021 as he led the CFL in rushing yards (1,176), yards from scrimmage (1,290), and 100-yard rushing games (six). The 27-year-old also scored three rushing touchdowns. He was already under contract for 2022 but is now tied to Montreal through 2023.
Ackie led the Alouettes with 48 defensive tackles in 14 games in 2021. The 30-year-old also registered six quarterback sacks as well as two interceptions. In 79 career CFL games, the former Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawk has amassed 202 defensive tackles, 24 special teams tackles, and eight sacks, as well as four interceptions.
Wieneke led the CFL with 11 receiving touchdowns in 2021. The 27-year-old made 56 catches for 898 receiving yards, which was good for fifth in the CFL. The league all-star and former South Dakota University Jackrabbit has made 97 catches for 1,467 yards and 19 touchdowns over two seasons with the Als, maintaining a 15.1 yards-per-catch average.
Exumé registered 15 special teams tackles this past season, which good for second place on the team behind Alexandre Gagné. The 27-year-old also made three defensive tackles. The former Université de Montréal Carabin has amassed 40 special teams tackles in 32 games at the professional level.
Schleuger will begin his third season with the Alouettes in 2022 after playing 16 career games in Montreal. The 26-year-old native of Wesley, Ia. started two games at left tackle this past season.
The Alouettes also signed American quarterback Davis Alexander.
The six-foot, 190-pound passer completed his collegiate career second all-time with the Portland State University Vikings with 9,215 passing yards and 63 touchdown passes. The 23-year-old was voted to the All-Big Sky Team in 2021 after completing 266-of-433 passes for 3,075 yards and 21 touchdowns.
