The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have re-signed American linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox. He was slated to become a free agent on Tuesday, Feb. 8.

The 27-year-old started all 14 regular season games in 2021 for the Ticats, recording 72 defensive tackles, three tackles for loss, one quarterback sack, five pass knockdowns, and one forced fumble. The six-foot-two, 233-pound native of Waterbury, Conn. also started all three playoff games for the club, including the 108th Grey Cup game.

The University of Massachusetts product has played 51 games over his four-year CFL career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2017-18), Edmonton Elks (2019), and Ticats (2021). He has registered 214 defensive tackles, 21 special teams tackles, 10 quarterback sacks, two interceptions, and four forced fumbles.

Santos-Knox went unselected in the 2016 NFL Draft and chose to sign north of the border the following year.

Hamilton has now brought back their entire linebacking corps from the 2021 season, during which the club finished first in rush defence (79.6 yards allowed per game), fourth in pass defence (249.2 yards allowed per game), and fifth in sacks (31).
