American offensive tackle Jordan Murray has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced on Thursday. He was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week so he could pursue an NFL opportunities.
The 24-year-old started nine regular season games and two playoff games at both tackle positions for the Ticats in 2021. The six-foot-nine, 330-pound native of Coppell, Tex. originally signed with Hamilton on July 19, 2021.
Prior to joining Hamilton, the University of North Texas product attended rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks in 2019. He also captured a championship in The Spring League with The Generals in 2020.
Indianapolis’ offensive coordinator is Marcus Brady, who played quarterback in the CFL for seven seasons. He was named Montreal’s receivers coach on Marc Trestman’s staff in 2009 and was elevated to the role of offensive coordinator in 2012. He then served as the offensive coordinator in Toronto for five seasons (2013-17) before departing for the NFL.
The Colts narrowly missed the postseason with a 9-8 record in 2021 but finished No. 8 in scoring (26.5 points per game) and No. 2 in rushing yards (149.4 per game). Second-year running back Jonathan Taylor had a breakout season, rushing 332 times for a league-leading 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Murray’s new teammates along the offensive line include perennial Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson, former No. 1 overall pick Eric Fisher, and Canadian blocker Carter O’Donnell.
