The Ottawa Redblacks are hiring former Saskatchewan Roughriders general manager Brendan Taman for a senior management role, according to media personality Rod Pedersen.

New Redblacks GM Shawn Burke has been working on filling out his football front office staff and the veteran personnel man is his latest addition.

It’s the second time in his long career that Taman will work for a team in the nation’s capital. From 1989 to 1992 he was the manager of football operations for the Rough Riders.

The Saskatoon native most recently spent two years, 2020 and 2021 as a senior player personnel executive with the Montreal Alouettes where Taman helped Danny Maciocia.

Taman was the GM with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 2004 to 2008 and with the green and white from 2010 to 2015, leading Riders to a Grey Cup championship on home soil in 2013. As a GM, Taman produced an 83-105-1 win-loss record while posting a 7-5 mark in the playoffs, including one CFL championship game win.

The 55-year-old started his scouting career as a player personnel assistant with the Roughriders in 1987.
