The Edmonton Elks are in the process of finalizing a new coaching staff under head coach and general manager Chris Jones, according to Dave Campbell of 630 CHED.

Hearing the #Elks are closing in on some additions to Chris Jones’ coaching staff. Expect Stephen McAdoo to return as the O.C., Jarious Jackson as the QB’s coach and pass game coordinator, and Markus Howell as the run game coordinator. Likely official next week.

Jones and McAdoo have worked closely together on a number of occasions, including Jones’ two head coaching stints in Edmonton (2014-15) and Saskatchewan (2016-18) during which McAdoo served as offensive coordinator.

McAdoo spent this past season on the coaching staff with the Argos, serving as their offensive line coach. Jackson and Howell were on the same coaching staff in Toronto with Jackson serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and Howell serving as the pass game coordinator and receivers coach.

Jackson spent eight years in the CFL as a quarterback (2005-12) primarily with the B.C. Lions. He served under Jones in Edmonton (2014-15) and Saskatchewan (2016-17) as the quarterback coach before becoming the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in B.C. (2018-19).

Howell was a CFL receiver for 11 seasons (2000-10) primarily with Winnipeg and Calgary. He has coaching in the league for a decade and served under Jones as the receivers coach in Saskatchewan (2016-17) before joining Jackson in B.C. (2018-19) and Toronto (2020-21).

McAdoo’s offence finished second in yardage and points scored in 2014 as Edmonton placed second in the West Division with a 12-6 record. The club won a Grey Cup in 2015 after finishing the regular season at 14-4 as the offence ranked second in yardage and fourth in scoring.
