The Montreal Alouettes have announced that receivers coach Robert Gordon won’t be back with the team in 2022. He first joined Montreal’s coaching staff in 2019.

“Robert has been dedicated in his work with the Alouettes and we are very grateful,” said Alouettes’ head coach Khari Jones in a press release. “With changes come tough decisions and this was definitely hard. We wish him well in the future.”

Following his 13-year-playing-career in the CFL and in the Arena Football League, Gordon joined the Omaha Mammoths of the Fall Experimental Football League in 2014. The native of Detroit, Mich. was named head coach of the Shenyang Black Rhinos of the China Arena Football League in 2017 before arriving in Montreal.

Gordon and Jones were teammates with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for five seasons (2000-04) during which they developed a strong chemistry. Gordon’s best season came in 2000 when he caught 89 passes for 1,395 yards and seven touchdowns as Jones took over as Winnipeg’s full-time starting quarterback.

This is the second change that Montreal has made to its coaching staff since the completion of the 2021 season after parting ways with special teams coordinator Mickey Donovan last week.
