The Edmonton Elks will be without arguably their three most dangerous offensive weapons when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday night.

Wide receiver Derel Walker (hip/groin), slotback Greg Ellingson (hip), and running back James Wilder Jr. (ankle) were all placed on the one-game injured list on Thursday, making them ineligible to play against the Riders. The trio had dressed for all of Edmonton’s previous games this season.

Walker will be replaced by Armanti Edwards, who has missed most of the season due to injury. The 33-year-old was a 1,000-yard receiver in 2019 with the Toronto Argonauts and possesses high-end speed.

Ellingson will be replaced by Shai Ross, who is having a breakout season for the Elks. The University of Manitoba product has made 19 receptions for 270 yards and four touchdowns, earning a consistent spot in the starting lineup.

Rookie running back Walter Fletcher will start in place of Wilder Jr. in what will be his first career CFL start. He has rushed 14 times for 44 yards in spot duty this season.

Edmonton (2-8) is currently on a six-game losing streak and have yet to win a game at home this season, going 0-6 at Commonwealth Stadium. They will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (7-4) on Friday night at Commonwealth Stadium for their final home game of the season before visiting the Green and White the following week.

Taylor Cornelius will make his third consecutive start for Edmonton while Nick Arbuckle, who was recently acquired via trade from Toronto, will not dress.
