The Edmonton Elks will start Taylor Cornelius at quarterback in Friday’s game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, according to 630 CHED’s Dave Campbell.

Taylor Cornelius will start at QB, Nick Arbuckle did limited work during practice. Mostly observing, Arbuckle has been staying late after practice getting his throws in with the receivers.

Cornelius has started four of Edmonton’s last five games, completing 59.7 percent of his passes for 1,062 yards, four touchdowns, and six interceptions. He has also carried the ball 15 times for 92 yards.

The Elks acquired Nick Arbuckle via trade from the Toronto Argonauts last week and recently signed him to a contract extension through 2022. He was on the sideline for the club’s loss to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this past week though he did not dress for the game.

Arbuckle went 2-2 as the starting quarterback in Toronto this year, completing 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,158 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also scored two touchdowns as a rusher off 17 carries.

Edmonton (2-8) is currently on a six-game losing streak and have yet to win a game at home this season, going 0-6 at Commonwealth Stadium. They will host the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Friday night at Commonwealth Stadium for their final home game of the season before visiting the Green and White the following week.
