Elks add Jake Ceresna to one-game injured list, promote first-round pick Cole Nelson

The Edmonton Elks have added Jake Ceresna to the one-game injured list. The 27-year-old defensive tackle has started all nine games for the team this season, making 23 tackles and three sacks.

Cole Nelson, selected in the first round of the 2021 CFL Draft out of the University of Alberta, has been added to the active roster in his place. The local product has dressed for five games this season, making one tackle.

Quarterback Case Cookus and defensive back Herb Waters will be on the field for the first time Tuesday for the Elks, as the recent signees were added to the practice roster after completing COVID-19 quarantines.

The Elks also released defensive lineman Rossini Sandjong from the team’s practice roster. The York University product appeared in five games for Edmonton this season, most recently in Week 9 against the Ottawa Redblacks. He did not record any statistics in those games.
