Blue Bombers can clinch first place in West Division with Week 12 win

Come on down to Winnipeg.

The defending Grey Cup champion Blue Bombers can ensure any team trying to win the 2021 CFL title from the West Division has to come through the Manitoba capital to do so.

Winnipeg clinched a playoff spot in Week 11 with a 26-16 win against the Edmonton Elks.

If the Bombers win at IG Field Saturday against the B.C. Lions, where they are 5-0 this season, Winnipeg will clinch first place in the West and host the Western Final on December 5.

Even if Winnipeg loses this weekend, the blue and gold still have a chance to host a post-season game. A Winnipeg loss and a Saskatchewan loss means the Bombers will clinch a home playoff date or if the Bombers lose by less than 21 points and Calgary also loses, the blue and gold will clinch a home playoff date.

West Division

  • Winnipeg WIN = Winnipeg clinches first place in the division; earns the right to host the Western Final on December 5
  • Winnipeg LOSS and Saskatchewan LOSS = Winnipeg clinches a home playoff date
  • Winnipeg LOSS (by less than 21 points) and Calgary LOSS = Winnipeg clinches a home playoff date

East Division

  • No team can clinch a playoff spot this week

CFL playoff picture

  • Winnipeg secured a playoff spot for the fifth consecutive season in Week 11.

Crossover rule:

If the fourth place team in one division has more points than the third place team in the other division — they cannot be tied — that team will cross over and take the place of the third place team in terms of playoff seeding. That team will then compete against the second place team in the division semi-final.
