The B.C. Lions have signed free agent receiver DeVier Posey, according to Davis Sanchez.

Posey was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last week after spending the entire season on the team’s injured list. The move comes just one day after the Lions announced that Lucky Whitehead would miss two to four weeks with a hand/wrist injury he sustained in the team’s Week 9 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The 31-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Tabbies on February 12, 2020 after starting 12 games for the Montreal Alouettes in 2019, registering 50 receptions for 780 yards and three touchdowns. He inked a fresh one-year pact this past February to remain in Hamilton.

The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Redwood City, Calif. has appeared in 36 career CFL games over four seasons with the Toronto Argonauts (2016-2017), B.C. Lions (2018) and Als (2019), posting 144 receptions for 2,080 yards and 13 touchdowns — 14.4 yards per catch.

Posey won the 105th Grey Cup with the Argos and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after hauling in seven receptions for 175 yards, including a CFL title game record 100-yard touchdown reception.
