The Toronto Argonauts have released for first-round NFL draft pick Kendall Wright, the team announced on Twitter.
The 31-year-old signed with the team back in February but was placed on the suspended list after he did not report for training camp. Wright was dealing with a personal issue at his home in the United States but joined the Argos in mid-September and spent time on the team’s practice roster.
Wright was a star at Baylor University (2008-11) where he caught 302 passes for 4,004 yards and 30 touchdowns. His collegiate career made him a top selection of the Tennessee Titans, with whom he made 280 receptions for 3,244 yards and 18 touchdowns over five seasons (2012-16).
The five-foot-ten, 185-pound target signed in Chicago in 2017 and played 16 games for the Bears, catching 59 passes for 614 yards and one touchdown. Wright spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals in 2018 but has not appeared in a regular season NFL games since 2017.
