Vernon Adams Jr. makes surprise return for second half after being ruled out with ankle injury

You can’t keep a good man down and you can’t keep Vernon Adams Jr. off the football field.

The Montreal Alouettes’ star quarterback has made a surprise return to the second half of his teams Week 9 matchup with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats after he was initially ruled out of the contest with injury.

Adams Jr. appeared to injure his left ankle on a short scramble late in the first quarter. He walked off the field under his own power, but did not return for the next series. Backup Matthew Shiltz took over under center while Adams Jr. got the injury worked on, but the visibly limping starter had to be held back by staff as he tried to get back on the field a drive later.

After assessing the injury, the Alouettes ruled Vernon Adams Jr. out for the remainder of the game, but that decision was re-evaluated at half-time and the electric passer made his way back into the line up after the intermission. The Ticats currently lead the game 9-3.

In six games this season, Adams Jr has completed 113-of-192 passes (58.9 percent) for 1,583 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions. Shiltz was 4-for-7 for 108 yards in a quarter of relief action.
