The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have placed Canadian tight end Jake Burt on the six-game injured list, according to TSN reporter Dave Naylor.

Burt was selected first overall by the Ticats in the 2021 CFL Draft. He has not played in a game so far in his rookie year and being tagged with the longer term designation leaves little chance for him to suit up during the regular season.

The 25-year-old Burt signed as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots on April 26, 2020. He attended training camp with the Pats and spent the entire season on their practice roster.

The six-foot-three, 230-pounder played 36 games at Boston College over parts of five seasons (2015-2019). He registered 23 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns and redshirted in 2016 due to an ACL knee injury. Burt was also named to the 2019 John Mackey Award Watch List prior to his senior year with the Eagles and went on to post career highs in receptions (15) and receiving yards (212) that season.

Originally born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Burt, and his family moved to Boston, Massachusetts when he was four years old.
