Cody Fajardo enters concussion protocol, ruled out of Banjo Bowl

Saskatchewan Roughriders star quarterback Cody Fajardo has officially been ruled out of the Banjo Bowl after failing to pass concussion protocol.

Fajardo appeared wobbly after absorbing a big sack from Willie Jefferson and Jake Thomas early in the third quarter, which a seemed to bounce his head off the turf. The quarterback was escorted off the sideline by a trainer and sent into the locker room for assessment as per concussion protocol. He did not return

The Riders, who were missing three starters coming into this game, have now lost five starters to injury or ejection during the Banjo Bowl.

Backup Isaac Harker entered the ball game with Winnipeg in the lead 19-9. The 25-year-old dressed for all 18 regular season games as a rookie in 2019. He started in Week 21, completing 23-of-28 passes for 213 yards in a 23-13 win to help the Roughriders earn first place in the West Division with a 13-5 record. Overall, he connected on 66 percent of his passes for 467 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions last season.
