Canadian offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell has joined the practice roster of the Indianapolis Colts.
He signed with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent his entire rookie season developing on the practice roster. The Colts finished the regular season 11-5 and lost to the Buffalo Bills in an AFC Wild Card playoff game.
O’Donnell was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian for his efforts in anchoring the Alberta offensive line in 2019. He helped the Golden Bears average 399 yards of total offence and 5.2 yards per rush. Scouts noticed his talent on film and it earned him an invite to the prestigious East-West Shrine Game.
The University of Alberta product was a third-round pick of the Montreal Alouettes in the 2020 CFL Draft. He would have been a sure-fire first-round selection had he not received such high interest from the NFL.
