Calgary Sports and Entertainment to require vaccination for fans, employees by Sept. 15

Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC) has released the following statement regarding a vaccination requirement for all fans, event staff, and employees who attend their live sporting events.

Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSEC) will be implementing a COVID-19 vaccination policy that will require all fans (eligible to receive the vaccine), event staff and employees to be fully vaccinated for attendance at live events at the Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. We are targeting September 15th as the effective policy date.

As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, CSEC believes this policy to be essential in delivering a safe environment for our fans and staff as well as an important measure to help our communities and businesses to continue reopening safely. We will monitor the situation and communicate required updates to ensure a safe environment for everyone visiting our facilities.

We remain excited to have welcomed fans back to McMahon Stadium through the month of August and are eager to welcome fans to the Scotiabank Saddledome in September.

Further details on the implementation of this policy will be provided in the coming weeks.

The Ottawa Redblacks and Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced similar policies on Monday, while MLSE (ie. the Argos) announced one last week. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have exclusively allowed fully-vaccinated fans to attend games this season, though such policies do not exist in Saskatchewan or Edmonton.

The CFL has postponed this week’s game between the Edmonton Elks and Toronto Argonauts after a number of Edmonton players tested positive for COVID-19.
