The new owner of the B.C. Lions is Amar Doman, according to multiple reports.

Doman has over 25 years of experience in building materials, specialty lumber and re-manufacturing industries, and in public and private investments.

He is the founder and sole shareholder of The Futura Corporation. Along with his team he has led and completed numerous acquisitions. His dedication to creating shareholder value and his vision for long term thinking when investing or buying companies outright has built The Futura Corporation into one of the largest and fastest growing companies in Canada.

Former owner David Braley passed away in October 2020 after purchasing the team in 1997. He reportedly left enough funds for the Lions to operate for several years in his estate.

During his induction speech at the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2012, Braley spoke of how proud he was going from 8,000 fans in the stands at his first game as owner to averaging 35,000 at the highest point of his tenure.

The Lions have seen a steep decline in attendance and fan engagement over the past five years in Vancouver’s competitive sports marketplace. Finding a new, engaged ownership group committed to leading the team to a prosperous future is essential for the long-term viability of the CFL on the west coast.
