The Edmonton Elks have signed Canadian defensive back Shaydon Phillip.

A product of the University of Alberta (2016-2017, 2019), Philip signed as an undrafted CFL free agent with the Calgary Stampeders in January before being released by the Stamps during the team’s final round of training camp cuts.

Edmonton also signed national defensive lineman Rossini Sandjong.

Sandjong was taken 59th overall by Edmonton in the 2020 CFL Draft. The Longueuil, Que., played at York University (2016-2019), and was a two-time OUA all-star, including being a first team selection in 2018.

The signings were made official Tuesday, with the players subsequently moved to the team’s suspended list as they complete their required quarantine period.

Also, Canadian defensive back Jordan Hoover has been added active roster. Hoover had been placed on the six-game injured list on August 3.
