The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed American defensive tackle Jhaustin Thomas, per sources.

The six-foot-six, 275-pound lineman appeared in fourteen games with the Toronto Argonauts in 2019, recording 14 tackles and one sack.

Thomas went unselected in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Iowa State but signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He was released at the end of training camp before having brief stints with the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos. He originally signed with Toronto in May 2019.

The 28-year-old signed contract extensions with the Argos for the 2020 and 2021 seasons but was released when the club set its final roster in July.

Hamilton will add Thomas to the suspended list while he completes his quarantine.

The Ticats typically start only one American defensive tackle, but started two in Week 1 due to an injury to Ted Laurent. Eddy Wilson II played beside Dylan Wynn in Hamilton’s season-opening loss to the Blue Bombers, recording one tackle.
