The Edmonton Elks have released quarterback Troy Williams.
Williams did not dress in the team’s disappointing Week 1 loss the Ottawa Redblacks.
He earned a roster spot with Edmonton in 2019 and appeared in his first CFL game during Week 18 that year, rushing nine times for 18 yards as the short yardage quarterback. In Week 21, the University of Utah product went one-of-three passing for 15 yards with one interception while rushing twice for eight yards.
The 26-year-old Williams was originally signed by the EE Football Team after spending parts of the 2018 season with the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL.
The roster move was made official Monday afternoon as the Elks prepare for their Week 2 match-up with the Montreal Alouettes.
