Willie Jefferson did not participate in practice on Tuesday due to an ankle injury, according to the team’s injury report. The session was closed to the media and the public.

The six-foot-seven, 250-pound pass-rusher was a full participant in practice on Sunday and Monday. His status for Thursday’s home opener will not be confirmed until the Blue Bombers submit their final injury report on Wednesday afternoon.

The 30-year-old was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2019 after recording 24 tackles, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, and one interception.

Andrew Harris (calf), Darvin Adams (shoulder), and Kyrie Wilson (thigh) missed all three practices this week. The same is true for Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ receiver Bralon Addison (knee), while DeVier Posey has already been ruled out with a calf injury.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers will kick-off the 2021 CFL regular season on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET at IG Field. Ticket sales for the event are reportedly moving fast with a chance of reaching a sellout.
