The Denver Broncos have signed veteran Canadian offensive lineman Brett Jones.
The 29-year-old spent the last three seasons between the active and practice rosters of the Minnesota Vikings. He dressed for 15 games in 2020 — starting two.
The Weyburn, Sask. native was selected in the second round of the 2013 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders. After winning the three-down league’s Most Outstanding Rookie and Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman awards over his first two years, Jones inked a contract with the New York Giants.
The Vikings acquired Jones in a trade during August 2018 in exchange for a 2019 NFL Draft pick. He has appeared in 61 career NFL games, making 19 starts over six seasons. In 2017, he started 16 games for the Giants at centre.
