A week into training camp and the Ottawa Redblacks are beefing up their backfield with some NFL experience, signing running back Justin Davis on Friday.

Davis, a native of Stockton, California, signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and made the team out of training camp. Over the next two season, he played 15 games as a backup, carrying the ball three times for 20 yards and adding three special teams tackle. Davis was waived as part of final roster cuts in 2019, spending the season on the practice roster of the Arizona Cardinals.

In four collegiate seasons with the USC Trojans, six-foot-one, 199-pound back carried 461 times for 2,465 yards and 19 touchdowns. Phil Steele named him third team All-Pac 12 in 2015.

Davis has now been placed on the suspended list as he undergoes mandatory quarantine. He will be eligible to join practice on July 23. Also placed on the suspended list was fellow running back Akeem Hunt.
