Canadian tight end Bruno Labelle has signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent after going unselected in the 2021 NFL Draft. The news was first reported by Didier Orméjuste.
The Montreal native only caught 20 passes in 46 games at the University of Cincinnati, but shows soft hands when given the opportunity to catch the ball. He also tested very well for his six-foot-four, 247-pound frame, running a 4.68 forty-yard dash and leaping a 36-inch vertical jump.
Labelle is the No. 1-ranked fullback heading into the 2021 CFL Draft. He was not initially projected to sign in the NFL but an excellent pro day helped draw the attention of more NFL scouts.
The Bearcat draws inspiration from Cincinnati product Travis Kelce, who has grown into one of the best tight ends in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Cardinals did not selected a tight end in the 2021 NFL Draft, which works to Labelle’s advantage. Arizona does not have an elite tight end on the roster with role players Maxx Williams and Darrell Daniels pencilled into the top of the depth chart.
