If I was an owner and I was just looking to squeeze as much money out of my team as possible, I’d merge with the XFL in a heartbeat. You could eliminate the CFLPA — remember, XFL players didn’t have a union — and set the salary cap at $3 million. Your minimum salary could be $50,000 and your stars could make $150,000. You could also slash the top coaching and management salaries because there’s nowhere else for those guys to go. It’s a great way to completely reset the market and reduce spending.

I’m not going to name names but talking to my teammates, a lot of them don’t even see the point of a shortened season. Some have made football plan B or even plan C.

Spring football has always failed and will always fail. If Americans were really that interested in football, the Arena League would be huge. It’s not. It’s been around for thirty years and nobody cares. Americans just care about the NFL and the NCAA. End of list.

I don’t put much stock into the testing numbers from the virtual combines, but the film and the drills have always mattered way more to me anyway.

I don’t trust the (combine) numbers this year, but I don’t trust the league’s numbers ever really. I watch and time them myself. I also don’t care about the numbers as much as I would in a normal year — a lot of these guys just aren’t in peak physical condition and it’s because of COVID-19 restrictions, not laziness.

I’m glad the CFL held a virtual combine because I could watch all the videos back and time them myself. As you can probably imagine, many of my numbers are very different from the CFL’s list — some are bang on, but some numbers from specific players and agents are asinine.

I don’t trust most of these combine times, but I fully believe Kyle Borsa is that fast. He’s one to watch.

I was actually surprised at how few punters went in the first round. Seriously — I thought there could be six or seven taken. If we need to dress two Globals, you may as well ensure you’ve got depth at kicker.

(University of Calgary offensive lineman) Logan Bandy is really good. I’m not sure he plays tackle at the CFL level, but he’ll be one of the better interior guys in the league in two or three years.
