The TSN radio station in Toronto is celebrating 10 years on the air without the Toronto Argonauts.
TSN 1050 tweeted out a celebratory note: Today is TSN 1050’s 10th anniversary! Thank you to all our listeners for the past decade and many more years to come! What is your favourite TSN 1050 moment? #TSN105010Years
The social media post had a graphic with players from the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, Raptors, and Toronto FC included. There was no representation for the Argos. Instead, the only football player on there was current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
It makes complete sense for recognizable stars such as Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Auston Matthews, Kyle Lowry, and Alejandro Pozuelo to be represented. Each athlete plays for major Toronto pro sports franchises. Although, Brady being on there in place of an Argo deserves an explanation. He’s a superstar NFL QB who has never played a game in Canada let alone Toronto.
TSN 1050 has carried Double Blue games on its airwaves since its inception. The Argos helped launch the all-sports radio station on April 13, 2011. Then-general manager Jim Barker was on the Mike Richards morning show, while former players Ricky Foley, Byron Parker and Rob Murphy were in studio for the afternoon drive show from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
However, the Argos have been forgotten 10 years later.
Editor’s note: since the publication of this article, TSN 1050 has deleted the Tweet referenced above. They have also posted a new Tweet replacing the image of Tom Brady with current Argonauts receiver Llevi Noel.
