The Montreal Alouettes have signed former NFL defensive back Prince Charles Iworah.

The five-foot-11, 193-pound Iworah was selected in the seventh round, 249th overall during the 2016 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He played one game and made one tackle for the 49ers prior to being released in December 2017.

The 28-year-old Nashville, Tennessee native had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Football Team and Atlanta Falcons.

Iworah spent his NCAA career with the University of Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. During his senior season, he made 42 tackles and four interceptions, and knocked down 11 passes in 13 games.

Originally a running back, Iworah was converted to the defensive back position in the collegiate ranks. In 2020, he was a member of the XFL’s ninth team comprised of players who would continue to practice and be ready in the event that another team in the league needed reinforcements.

At Western Kentucky’s pro day in 2016, Iworah ran a 4.34 hand-timed forty-yard dash, recorded a 40-inch vertical and did 25 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Iworah has the speed, explosiveness and power to succeed in Canada.
