The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American defensive tackle Casey Sayles.

The six-foot-three, 290-pound defender recorded 111 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks as a member of the Ohio University Bobcats before going unselected in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Sayles was in training camp with the Los Angeles Rams (2017) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2018) before making his professional debut with the Birmingham Iron of the Alliance of American Football (AAF). He recorded 13.5 tackles and a sack prior to the league ceasing operations.

Sayles rejoined the Steelers in 2019 but was again released. He was a first-round pick of the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL and dressed for five games, making 8.5 tackles and one sack.

The 25-year-old will look to make an impact in the CFL as a member of the defending Grey Cup champions.
