The Montreal Alouettes have signed running back Cameron Artis-Payne.
The five-foot-10, 220-pound Artis-Payne played in 32 games for the Carolina Panthers, rushing 118 times for 491 rushing yards (4.2 yards per carry) and five touchdowns with 10 receptions for 86 yards.
Artis-Payne was selected in the fifth round, 174th overall by the Panthers. The 30-year-old helped Carolina reach Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos.
The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native played five games for the Dallas Renegades in the XFL in 2020, rushing 41 times for 241 yards and two touchdowns, plus 23 catches for 101 receiving yards.
Collegiately, Artis-Payne played for Auburn University. During his senior season in 2014 with the Tigers, he rushed 303 times for 1,608 yards and 13 touchdowns. For his efforts, Artis-Payne earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honours.
