The Ottawa Redblacks have locked down two of their 2020 CFL Draft picks, signing linebacker Dan Basambombo and offensive lineman Jakub Szott on Thursday.
Basambombo was drafted by the Redblacks 19th overall in the second round as a territorial exemption.
The six-foot-one, 232-pound linebacker from Congo played eight games in 2018 for Laval, while recording a total of 31.5 tackles and two sacks. Basambombo originally intended to return to Laval before the 2020 U Sports season was cancelled.
Szott was drafted by Ottawa 29th overall in the fourth round of the CFL Draft.
The six-foot-five, 314-pound Toronto native was a mainstay on the offensive line during his four seasons with McMaster. With a noticeable nasty streak to his game, he will provide the Redblacks with valuable depth at centre or guard.
