Riders sign Canadian linebacker twins, Jordan and Justin Herdman-Reed

Riders general manager Jeremy O’Day has signed twin Canadian linebackers Jordan and Justin Herdman-Reed, the latter was born two minutes after the former.

The older Herdman-Reed played in 16 games for the B.C. Lions in 2019. He made 37 defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles, one sack and forced one fumble. The six-foot, 235-pound Winnipeg native has played 52 career CFL games over three seasons with the Leos, notching 95 defensive tackles, 44 special teams tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble.

The younger Herdman-Reed played 11 games with seven starts at linebacker for the Toronto Argonauts in 2019. He registered 37 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles and two quarterback sacks. The five-foot-10, 223-pound Winnipeg native has played 40 career CFL games over three seasons with the Argos, recording 43 defensive tackles, 26 special teams tackles, two quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles.

Prior to turning pro, both Herdman-Reed brothers at Simon Fraser University. Justin was selected in the seventh round, 54th overall in the 2017 CFL Draft and Jordan was chosen in the same round six picks later, 60th overall.

After three years apart in the CFL, the Herdman-Reed tandem has team up again in Riderville.
