Veteran defensive lineman Almondo Sewell has said goodbye to the Edmonton Football Team prior to the opening of CFL free agency.

Sewell has played all nine of his seasons north of the border in the Alberta capital. The 34-year-old wrote a classy farewell note to all involved with the Green and Gold.

The six-foot-four, 288-pound interior defender has posted 282 tackles and 60 sacks over 139 dominant games in Edmonton. The six-time league all-star won a Grey Cup with the team in 2015 and is one of the most disruptive linemen in the CFL.

Sewell’s production is enough for him to somersault his way into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame once his playing days are over, but they’ll continue elsewhere for now.
