Canadian defensive lineman Michael Hoecht has signed a futures contract with the Los Angeles Rams, per source.

The native of Oakville, Ont. joined the team as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent the entire season on the practice squad.

The Rams went 10-6 in the regular season before defeating the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the NFL playoffs. Their season ended on Sunday when they lost to the Green Bay Packers by a score of 32-18 at Lambeau Field.

Hoecht has extraordinary athleticism for his six-foot-four, 310-pound frame as he demonstrated at his virtual pro day. He ran a 4.65 forty-yard dash while putting up 23 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press — a solid combination of speed and strength.

Hoecht put his physical tools to good use at Brown University, recording 158 total tackles and 17 sacks. He was selected No. 10 overall by the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2020 CFL draft.
