Bombers add trio of Americans

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today have signed American defensive back Demetrious Cox, American defensive end Vontarrius Dora and American receiver Davon Grayson for the 2021 season.

Cox spent time on the practice squads of the Bengals, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals before returning to Cincinnati in 2019. The six-foot, 200-pound defender played in four games with Carolina in 2017. He was most recently a member of the XFL’s New York Guardians.

Cox played collegiately at Michigan State, seeing action in 51 games, starting 25 and recording 91 solo tackles, 75 tackle assists, one sack, 14 pass breakups, four interceptions, one forced fumbled, two fumble recoveries and two touchdowns.

Dora has spent the past three seasons in the Arizona Cardinals organization, and prior to that was on the practice squads in Indianapolis and Denver. The six-foot-four, 255-pound Mississippian saw action in 46 games at Louisiana Tech, including starting all 13 at defensive end his senior season, finishing with a career-high 48 tackles, as well as a career-high and team-high six sacks for a loss of 51 yards.

Grayson signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May of 2018 but spent much of his career on injured reserve. As a senior at East Carolina in 2017, the six-foot-two, 190-pound playmaker finished with a career-best 59 receptions, 886 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
