The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have inked two of their top picks from the 2020 CFL Draft in defensive back Noah Hallett and kicker/punter Marc Liegghio.
Hallett was selected at the bottom of the second round with Winnipeg’s first pick in the draft. He was 3DownNation‘s third-ranked defensive back and No. 23 prospect overall.
The McMaster product is an athletic freak who recorded a 44-inch vertical jump at the 2019 East-West Bowl. He was named a second-team All-Canadian in 2019 at halfback, but should move to safety at the CFL level.
Hallett is the younger brother of Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ defensive back Nick Hallett, who recorded 13 special teams tackles and one forced fumble as a rookie in 2019.
Liegghio was a fifth-round selection who holds the all-time U Sports record for most career field goals following a prolific four years at Western University. He was named a U Sports first-team All-Canadian in 2019 as both placekicker and punter.
The native of Woodbridge, Ont. connected on 115-of-137 career field goal attempts (83.9 percent) with a long of 50 yards. He also averaged 47.5 yards per punt in his final year with the Mustangs.
