American linebacker Chris Frey has re-signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for the 2021 season.
That’s according to the man himself who shared the news on Twitter: Signed. Sealed. Delivered. Excited the be back in the Hammer in 2021! I’m coming for everything I lost in 2020.
Frey originally signed with the Ticats in January 2019. He played five games in his rookie season, making three defensive tackles, two special teams tackles and one sack.
Following the 2018 NFL Draft, Frey signed as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers and registered nine defensive tackles in four pre-season games before being released September 1.
The six-foot, 225-pound native of Upper Arlington, Ohio played four seasons at Michigan State University, compiling 193 career tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, seven quarterback sacks and five fumble recoveries in 52 games. Frey, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, served as a team captain for the Spartans in 2017 and was named the 2017 Holiday Bowl defensive MVP.
The 25-year-old Frey strengthens the Ticats linebacking group.
