Saskatchewan Roughriders pending free agent receiver and returner Kyran Moore scheduled a visit and workout with the New York Giants, per sources.
Moore passed and completed his COVID-19 protocols as the Giants looked at him on Tuesday, January 5 for a potential futures contract for the 2021 NFL season.
The personnel men liked what they saw from Moore, however no contract was offered. Not playing due to the CFL season cancellation in 2020 hurt his chances and New York wants to see Moore bulk up for future possibilities.
The 24-year-old had a breakout campaign in 2019, catching 78 passes for 996 yards and six touchdowns in his first full CFL season.
Moore was a key playmaker for quarterback Cody Fajardo as the Riders claimed first place in the West Division with a 13-5 record. He had game highs of nine receptions for 119 yards in the West Final loss to the eventual Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Moore started on the practice roster and made his CFL debut on August 25, 2018, playing 10 games in his rookie year in Canada, grabbing 32 balls for 475 yards and one major. He added 29 punt returns for 389 yards and two touchdowns that season.
Moore was named an All-State defensive back following his senior year at McAdory High School in McCalla, AL. He earned his scholarship to Austin Peay State University (2014-2017) as a cover man and recorded 27 tackles, three pass knockdowns, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries in 18 games on the defensive side of the football.
During his final two NCAA years at Austin Peay, Moore played 22 games on offence as a receiver with the Governors. He had 56 receptions for 918 yards and five touchdowns, added 60 carries for 347 yards and four touchdowns.
On special teams, Moore had 62 kick-off returns for 1,334 yards and two touchdowns and 19 punt returns for 131 yards. He was named a first-team FCS All-American returner following his senior season.
At Austin Peay’s pro day in 2018, Moore produced a 4.55 hand-timed 40-yard time, 34-inch vertical, and a nine-foot, seven-and-three-quarter-inch broad jump. The five-foot-10, 165-pound Moore went unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft and signed with Saskatchewan in May 2018.
Moore has played in 28 CFL games recording 110 catches for 1,471 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 13.4 yards per reception.
