The Toronto Argonauts have signed a highly-touted former NFL pass rusher.
The club announced the addition of Virginia product Eli Harold on Thursday. The defensive end was a third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 NFL draft. He spent three seasons with the team, making 85 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Traded to the Detroit Lions in August 2018, Harold made 10 tackles, four tackles for loss, and four sacks for his new club in 13 games. He was in training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019 but was released as part of final cuts.
The six-foot-three, 245-pound edge rusher should help upgrade a Toronto defensive line that struggled to generate consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks in 2019.
