There hasn’t been a down of football played at BMO Field in 2020, but the Pittsburgh Penguins changed that.

The Toronto Argonauts home field is part of the National Hockey League’s bubble for recreational activities.

Captain Sidney Crosby wasn’t seen throwing or catching the football during a team off day Thursday, however a handful of Pens players including Conor Sheary, Bryan Rust, Brian Dumoulin, Jake Guentzel and Chad Ruhwedel laced them up.

It looks like Guentzel was having the most fun Jakin’ and bakin’ — NHL players could very well be the only athletes seen with footballs in their hands at BMO Field in 2020. All 24 NHL teams entered bubbles in Edmonton and Toronto on Sunday, July 26 as the league returns to play.

The CFL has tentatively chosen Winnipeg as its hub city, but there is a long way to go in order for the three-down league to potentially pull off its own concept.
