B.C. Lions running back coach Beau Walker has resigned to pursue opportunities outside of the CFL.
2020 was set to be Walker’s first season in B.C., following head coach Rick Campbell to the West Coast after four years serving as an offensive assistant and running backs coach in Ottawa. Prior to the Redblacks, he spent seven years coaching at Oregon State University and had a one-year stint at Nebraska.
“Beau is a good coach, we wish him all the best in his new opportunity and we thank him for everything he contributed to the Lions,” Campbell said.
“As we continue to prepare for a possible start of training camp in the next few weeks, a plan is in place to cover off the running back position internally amongst our offensive coaches.”
It’s unclear what prompted Walker’s decision, but his it was likely made easier by the continuing uncertainty around the 2020 CFL season. If games are played this year, someone else will be giving John White IV and Brandon Rutley advice from the sideline.
