The RSEQ (Reseau du sport etudiant Quebec) and its members of the RSEQ university sector wish to maintain a fall calendar for the majority of university sports in the RSEQ amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to achieve the goal, possible and specific adaptations could be made to the calendars while respecting the needs of each sports by August 31. It means training camps for varsity sports will not begin before September but there is hope for competition in the fall.

The potential adaptations to the fall calendar, for most university sports in the RSEQ, will be aligned with the Quebec public health directives as well as with the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education.

In order to ensure the health of all student-athletes, coaches, volunteers, parents, and other stakeholders involved in the RSEQ, the executive management of the RSEQ ensures regular communication with the sport, recreation and physical activity department of the ministry, more specifically the delegate Minister for Education, Ms. Isaballe Charest, indicating the resumption of sports activities.

Every other Canadian university conference — AUS, OUA and Canada West — including the governing body, U Sports, cancelled fall sports in June due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus crisis.
