The University of Calgary Dinos are showing off their Vanier Cup championship bling.
The Dinos became U Sports champions for the fifth time in program history after defeating the University of Montreal Carabins 27-13 in the 55th Vanier Cup last November. It’s the first title for Calgary since 1995, moving them to third place on the all-time list of winningest programs in Canadian university football history.
Calgary quarterback Adam Sinagra finished his U Sports career as a Vanier Cup champion. The senior QB played a pivotal role in the victory, capturing the Ted Morris Memorial Trophy awarded to the game’s Most Valuable Player. He completed 22-of-28 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Sinagra’s ring is the one featured in the reveal by the Dinos.
According to Jack Neumann: The Dinos’ fifth football national title was won in the 55th edition of the Vanier Cup. Five red stones surround each side of the interlocking UC logo – paying tribute to the University of Calgary – on the ring’s top, recognizing both the five championships and, together, the 10 wins the team secured over the 2019 season. ‘National Champions,’ set in gold, completes the top.
Calgary players received the rings in a drive thru at McMahon Stadium on Friday due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
