The Edmonton Eskimos have signed American running back Marvin Kinsey.
Kinsey rushed for 1,632 yards and 17 touchdowns on 304 carries (5.4 yards per tote) while catching 40 passes for 460 yards and three touchdowns in 34 games at Colorado State University.
The 22-year-old Kinsey had a breakout senior season going in 2019 with 703 rushing yards and six touchdowns in seven games, but he was suspended from the Rams for violating team rules and never played another down for CSU. At the time, Kinsey led the Mountain West Conference in rushing and was among the NCAA football bowl subdivision rushing leaders.
Kinsey wasn’t highly recruited coming out of Riverwood High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He rushed for 1,468 yards and 14 touchdowns in his senior season and became the first player in Riverwood history to be honoured with a jersey retired. The track and wrestling athlete chose Colorado State over scholarship offers from Georgia Southern, Utah State and Tulane.
The six-foot-one, 206-pound back went unselected in the NFL draft. Kinsey joins the mix to replace veteran C.J. Gable, he’s a big back with power and burst who could thrive in the CFL.
